Why does converting a PDF back into an editable document feel like reversing something?
Because that's essentially what it is — PDF was deliberately designed to be the opposite of an editable format. Adobe co-founder John Warnock outlined the idea in a 1990 internal paper code-named "The Camelot Project," proposing a simplified version of Adobe's PostScript print language that could display a document identically on any screen or printer, with its fonts embedded directly in the file.
